Preparation For Frost Pin Locations And Terralifting
One of the key objectives on the course during 2015 was the elimination of the need for temporary greens and a transition towards using frost pin locations on the front of the main greens.
With the ongoing improvements that have been introduced this year, the greens have firmed up and the thatch has been greatly reduced. This has enabled the green staff to remove all of the temporary greens and to initiate the work to produce areas on the front of the greens where a frost pin will be located.
Terralift equipment has been used to improve the drainage. This equipment inserts a probe one metre into the surface and then releases an air blast and injects dried seaweed into the soil. Over a period of time the dried seaweed expands and contracts depending on the moisture content. This movement helps to keep the airways open.
The holes are drilled on a two metre staggered grid pattern, a proven practice whereby the soil is fractured and fissured with each blast and connects with the previous one. Once the greens and some walk off areas are completed the holes are back filled with dry sand.
Alliance Pro-Am
Harpenden Common Hosted the Hertfordshire Alliance Pro-Am tournament last Thursday. The course was in great condition considering the terrellifting and everyone enjoyed the food and drink! Thank you Martina and Ian. I was really happy with my result as I ended up winning the Pro-Am with a gross 68, 2 under par! My team of Darren Hawkins, Josh Emerton and Phil Ogden unfortunately just missed out on the prizes as we finished 4th, however we all had a good day.
Bernard Dadd Customer Service
Bernard Dadd mentioned his waterproof jacket zip was faulty to me within warranty. We sent it back to the manufacture and within 3 days he had a brand new jacket. Another example of our great customer service. You would not get that service with American Golf or Online, so why buy anywhere else?

They will be able to get as much as they want. It is basically the golf clubs version of supermarket sweep. Come in the shop to get your ticket.
