What a busy week we have had. The sun has been shining so there has been a lot of good golf being played.

 

Jubilee Match 

Last Saturday was the Annual Jubilee Match where the two Harpenden Golf Club's play against each other. The team is split in two and six, better ball matches are played at the Common and six are played at Hammond's end. Here is our captain Peter Rushbrook and I on the 18th at the Common with Professional Peter Lane and Hammond's end Captain John Rhead. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and despite winning at the common we lost the overall match and here is Peter presenting John the Jubilee Trophy.

   



After Sale Service 

Another happy customer. Felicity Burgess brought a waterproof top from the pro shop roughly six months ago and has been really happy with the jacket until last week when the zip got caught and broke. She only mentioned it to me and I said pop it in and I'll send it back to the company. Within 5 days she had been replaced with a brand new waterproof jacket. FootJoy Shoe Fitting Day 

This was a very interesting day as I was like most people saying I know what size my feet are. Anyway, Sam from foot joy pictured here fitting Eric Audley was busy measuring everybody's feet with some surprising outcomes. 

I wear size 8.5 medium fit however I was measured at 8.5 narrow fit. Wearing shoes to wide for you can reduce your stability during the swing. I'm looking forward to trying my new pair of properly fitted shoes. 

Josh on the other hand wears size 12 shoes. But was fitted for size 11 wide. He had to wear the larger size to feel comfortable. He is also looking forward to playing in the correct size shoes. Hopefully they will improve our golf!!

   

Nike Fitting Day 

This was the first time Nike have visited the Common and created more interest in the Nike brand. Getting a fitting is the best way to get the best out of your clubs as your clubs will be suited to your swing. Instead of altering your swing to suit your clubs. 

We have all the relevant fitting equipment including the latest high tech radar tracking devise.

The junior section had the first major of the year last week with the Coronation Trophy. First a big well done goes to Jack Jacobs for completing his first junior competition. Jack graduated through the Rob Leonard Junior Golf Academy with flying colours and is definitely one to watch out for the future! 

Sam Morley was victorious however with a fantastic nett 67. Sam has been cut down to 10.9 now scratch team watch out. Well done boys and keep up the good golf!



Harpenden common had a brilliant representation in last week's Hertfordshire County Match against Middlesex at Ealing Golf Club. 

The team was victorious with our boys Gordon Forster, Tony Wilkins and Lewis Watcham all keeping an unbeaten record. Well done guys.
