Well done to everyone who played in the Lomas Cup last week. We had over 75 entries which is brilliant for a mid-week competition.

There were some great scores as well with everyone in the top 5 scoring over 40 points.

Saturday Stableford

Yet again last week we had some beautiful weather on Saturday which made conditions difficult for everyone that played in the comp.

However, we still did have some great scores with the winner being Keith Bratt with 40 points!

Hole In One Success

During the week Mike Gillis holed out on the 18th for a hole in one!

After just receiving his brand-new Callaway Apex irons the week before which were fully custom fitted by our fitter Louis, Mike was able to get them performing well enough to get the hole in one, well done Mike!

Here’s what Mike had to say about the shot…

“From the white tee I took an 8 iron to a front left flag. Wasn’t absolutely sure it had gone in as I thought it may have gone into the dip beyond the flag although it did seem to disappear quickly after pitching on the green.

Seems as though the new Apex 19 irons are working well!! There’s a bottle of Famous Grouse behind the bar for anyone who would like to celebrate with me.”

Here is a great example of one of my lessons who wanted to gain more distance with the Driver. He felt like he was hitting his hybrid as far as he hits the driver. With the Tour Shed technology, we have the ability to tell you everything we need to know to reach your optimum performance. As you can see, he was approaching the ball 6.8 degree down, which increased the spin rate to over 4000 rpm this basically reduces his distance with Driver.

We worked on various swing changes to improve the angle that he was hitting into the ball and as you can see, what a massive improvement!

By reaching an amazing 2 degrees up on the ball this almost reduced the spin rate by 50% but more importantly increase his distance by an amazing 70 yards!!

This is a remarkable and unusually high improvement. However, everyone can improve their numbers, it is just knowing what numbers to improve, and that’s our job. Click here for our online booking system.

Last week we had Eastenders star Jake Wood visits the club and of course, we had to get him in The Tour Shed to have a look and have a go!

Here we have Rob posing with Jake just after Jake had hit a fair few balls’ in the shed where he said he really enjoyed using the simulator and sees massive benefits to it!

Everyone would like to be told they’re a ‘great iron player’, but you’re making it a lot harder for yourself if you don’t have irons that are matched-up to get the best out of your swing.

Think you're not good enough to be fitted?

The number of golfers who have not been fitted for their irons is far higher than it should be. We often hear golfers say they’re not good enough to get custom fitted, but we are here to dispel that myth and explain why getting fitted WILL improve your iron play.

Consistency is critical in your iron play and being fitted for your irons will give you this, plus improve your accuracy and make any errors less extreme.

There are so many factors that influence our ability to strike the ball better and hit the ball where we want it to go. One thing you may not have tried before is Mizuno’s JPX919 Hot Metal irons, which feature a stable frame for easy launch, forgiveness and added distance.
