Texas Scramble The weather started off poor on Saturday for the Texas Scramble, but it soon got a lot better. However, the wind was very strong making conditions hard. Also didn’t help that some Pin Positions were in some very troublesome places. However, there were some fantastic scores with lots of teams shooting under Par. But there was only 1 winning team with a gross 64 6 under par! This team was our very own Louis Hindle from the shop, Sam Berg, Hugo Neale and Pam Henson. Midweek Stableford We had some great scores last week in the Stableford. But a huge well done to Garry O’Dell on having 40 points which was a great effort as the weather hasn’t been nice recently leaving a very wet and difficult golf course! Also well done to Will Baynham who had a Two having entered the 2’s sweep, he won a massive 2 golf balls! Click here to see the full results |
New Coach… We have a brand-new coach to add to our shop team called Mark Laskey. He has been up the club at the weekend showing his face to as many members as possible and you should see a lot more of him when you’re next at the club. Mark has had a very good coaching and Professional playing career. He has played in lots of different Tours and won lots as well including playing in The Open 2011, European, Challenge, Asian, Europro, Jamega and TP Tours all over the world. He really does know a lot and has lots of experience in every area of golf. |
He has recently completed his TPI training which is an advanced Golf Coaching Qualification which looks at your physical attributes and how fitness can benefit your golf. He loves seeing how TPI can improve your game and it really does make a huge difference in all areas of your golf. Custom Fitting Success We have another great success story from one of Louis’s fitting. He had a customer looking for some new irons. Louis compared the clients current clubs to all the latest from brands such as PING, Callaway, TaylorMade and Mizuno. The brands that were working best for this client were the new PING G710 irons and the new Mavrik Max irons. If you look at the picture bellow you can see the huge improvements from the newer irons, with the G710 coming out massively on top. This was down it carrying 24 yards further than their previous irons but also launching higher and spinning more. A great success and plenty more of these to share from every fitting! Try TaylorMade Some of you may or may not know but we now stock TaylorMade Golf balls. These are a very popular golf ball around the world, especially their TP5 ball. Last week we revealed a remarkable statistic regarding the number of golfers playing grips that are over a year old, but what impact does that actually have on your game? Well, we decided to do some digging... |
 | | Tension whilst gripping |
Grips are made from rubber and are prone to wear and tear, just like the tyres on your car. When they become worn, your grips will lose tackiness and your hands will start to slip during the swing, resulting in poorer shots.
The thing is, you’ll likely overcompensate by holding on to your clubs too tight, creating more tension and stiffness during the swing.
