Saturday Peter Bozier Stableford

We had some lovely weather for this Stableford on Saturday, some would say the last day of summer. Now the weather certainly allowed everyone to enjoy being outside but some didn’t enjoy their golf, however, there was some great scores. The conditions were proving tough though due to the ground being dry and the ball rolling out a long way. This meant that out of 140 competitors only 3 were able to get above 40 points. A big well done to Martin Wallis, Mark Pemberthy and Alex Turner!

‘Whoever said insurance was dull?

One of our members Stuart Gallagher works for Zurich and had a great opportunity to meet and interview Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood and below tell you what Stuart got up to on the day!

Well, most people to be fair, even by his own admission but as days at the office go for one of our members, this one takes some beating.

On Monday this week, Stuart Gallagher and many of his Zurich Insurance colleagues hosted some of their key customers at Foxhills GC with Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose in attendance.

Tommy gave a three-hole walking tour whilst Justin gave a putting masterclass as well as taking 3 lucky guests through a 1-2-1 problem-solving clinic.

Stuart is also now considering offering his interview skills to Sky Sports after the Q&A sessions although he openly admits Tommy and Justin (Zurich Insurance Ambassadors) were both very easy to talk to and were genuinely very chatty!

Cutting Down For The Environment

We now have invested in some water flasks to sell in the shop. We have done this to start to try reducing the amount of plastic waste we produce from water sales in the shop.

The hope is that we can move away from plastic water sales and move more into selling reusable water flasks. We currently have stock of the Fluid water flasks with The Tour Shed logo printed on them.

These are only £24.99 and help go towards using less plastic!

Our New Coffee Machine

We have upgraded our coffee machine to a touchscreen, and it looks great. The coffee is also amazing coming in either an 8oz or 12oz cup as we offer two different sizes.

The prices of the coffee have gone up so we have had to put our prices up, but the coffee tastes amazing so it’s totally worth it.

Winter is coming

Have you ever noticed how much harder you need to hit your putts in the winter compared to summer? As surfaces begin to slow due to longer grass and wetter greens, the need for a little extra effort on your putting stroke becomes clear.

Should you change your putter?

As putts need to be hit harder to get the ball going the same distance as they do in the summer months, using a heavier putter certainly won’t do you any harm.

The thought here is that a heavier putter will do more of the work for you, allowing for a smooth and more controlled putting stroke.

Whilst still being relatively lightweight compared to some putters in the range (Valor is 30g heavier), PING's Sigma 2 Wolverine putter is certainly an option we'd recommend you trying.
