Studio Update
I am glad to announce we have had planning permission granted for the indoor swing studio at Harpenden Common Golf Club. This means within 5-7 weeks we will have started building work and advertising the indoor room. This room will be used for the ultimate custom fitting experience, coaching and also simulation play.
If you are unfamiliar with Golf Simulation Play this is where you can play a famous golf course in the warmth of our indoor room. This will re-create every hole, green and hazard of the desired course. We are hoping to launch the studio early December. However, we have now got the big choice of what golf course we would like to play on. I have a total of five to choose from initially so as you are my audience, would you like to choose your favorite courses from this list below? Everyone that provides me with their choices will be entered in a draw to win these prizes... 1x 2 hour simulation session 1x 1 hour simulation session 1x 1 hour practice session

Louis' pick of the week - Footjoy Rainy Day Bonus Pack For this week’s Pick of the week we have something that every golfer should be investing in. The FootJoy Rainy Day bonus pack is an extremely good deal and is perfect for this coming winter. The bonus pack includes a pair of FootJoy’s Wet-Weather grip gloves and a FootJoy all-weather towel. Both items are essential for winter wet weather golf and really do help you perform better. The bonus pack is only £19.99 with all sizes available.
If you find yourself never playing well in any wet or cold weather, it’s most likely because you’re not prepared enough. Preparation is key for performing well in wet and cold weather conditions. You need to make sure your preparation starts at home before you go and play. By getting all your gear ready before you go will ensure you’re fully prepared for when you get to the golf club. Essential items are an umbrella, rain gloves, mittens, rain hood for your golf bag, waterproof hat or woolly hat and importantly a few different towels. The umbrella is an obvious one but there are still many people who turn up on wet days who have forgotten their umbrella so it’s best to keep one in the car. Now rain gloves are very important, and this is because they make sure you can grip the golf club. The rain gloves like the ones in this bonus pack allow you to keep a secure grip even when the gloves and your grips are wet. The FootJoy proven sure-grip technology gives you unmatched grip in the wet and ensure your clubs don’t slip out of your hands. If your clubs are secure in your hands you can ensure you can make solid contact with the ball without the club slipping which can cause a decrease level in your performance.
A crucial part of playing in the rain is carrying enough towels with you. Having at least a couple of towels ensures you can have one wet towel and one you keep dry. One should be used to clean your clubs after your shots and the dry one should be used to dry your hands or grips when needed. An easy way to keep this towel dry is to hang it from the inside of your umbrella. This ensures the towel stays dry but is also conveniently placed so you can dry your hands in the dry rather than using it in the rain and getting the towel unnecessarily wet.
If you want to know some more easy ways to help you perform better in the rain and why these methods help you perform better, ask a member of the shop staff. Make sure you’re fully prepared this winter and start by making the most of the FootJoy bonus pack deal for only £19.99!

Do you need new spikes? Winter brings with it rain, which makes the ground beneath your feet softer and more slippery. If your spikes are worn or even missing, keeping a stable base during your swing will be much harder and you'll be more prone to slipping. To avoid destructive shots like these, come in-store and take advantage of our Shoe MOT promotion, where you can get new spikes fitted for half price! |

Sometimes it's nice to reminisce about the good times. When it comes to golf, the days of persimmon woods, small clubheads and hitting balls which were hard as a rock are long gone - but it can help to take a trip down memory lane to remind us of just how much technology has developed, particularly in the case of drivers. |
Time tunnel
Take TaylorMade for example; you might have been lucky enough to own its iconic r7 Quad driver way back in 2004. The r7 was memorable for introducing the then-revolutionary concept of changeable weights in a driver, which was a massive shift from the conventional 'one weight fits all' approach. The r7 Quad is a classic club, and is certainly remembered with fondness. Fast-forward to the present day and TaylorMade has released its most technologically advanced driver to date in the form of the M3. The M3 really shows just how far we've come in terms of moveable weights, with a Y-Track feature that allows golfers to adjust their settings for optimal trajectory, maximum forgiveness, or less spin. So, whilst it is nice to think about your first ever driver, it's probably time to get up to speed with the latest models such as the M3. Who knows? Maybe in another 10 years time, you'll be looking back on the M3 with as much fondness as the r7 Quad! |
