Robinson Rosebowl Results
Last Sunday we had the Robinson Rosebowl. This was an 18 hole stableford competition. There were some great scores, however Paul McAvoy took the victory on countback from Noel Johnson both with 40 Points. Paul playing off plus 1 shot a gross 65 to lower his handicap to a now all-time low of plus 1.0.
Last week Paul also won the National Police Championship and here he is with his trophy. Well done Paul. I think the Club Championship is going to be very exciting this year with various golfers at their top of their game.
The top 5 in the Robinson Rosebowl were as follows:
1st Paul McAvoy 40 Points
2nd Noel Johnson 40 Points
3rd Nick Wright 39 Points
4th Ashley Burgess 39 Points
5th Ian Steurs 39 Points
In the Twos Competition: David Keane, Paul McAvoy, Steve Dear, Lyn Jones, Tom Dolan and Noel Johnson all made twos well done to all.
Junior Godfrey Trophy
The Junior Godfrey Trophy was played last Sunday as well. This has fond memories for me as I won this trophy in 1999. The Junior section is certainly at a high standard as the top 3 were as follows…
1st Jake Whitby 41 Points
2nd Harry Topping 41 Points
3rd Conner Maloney 40 Points
A special mention goes to Ella Morris who has come through our Academy and now has played to her handicap for the first time, well done Ella and definitely a star for the future.
Here is Ella receiving an award from me and Tony Burgess in the academy in 2014.
Captain/Pro
This week's Captain/Pro Match was against James Blake and Richard Moore. The match was as hot as the day as Richard and James had 8 nett birdies in the round.
However, Captain Kevin and I managed to hold off the onslaught to narrowly take the victory.
Next up is Willie Watson and Nic Cane on Sunday looking forward to it.
Family Day
We have the first ever Family Day being held at Harpenden Common Golf Club on Sunday 16th July from 2pm till 4:30pm. We will give instruction as to what is expected of golf club members and explain how the coaching and instruction is structured.
We hope to attract adults to come and give us a try with a possible deal for an adult and child joining. A short course will be prepared to allow a four-hole competition including a committee member in each team.
Tuition will be available for anyone who wishes to try. We will supply all equipment needed. Refreshments will be offered at the end of the session and to allow anyone who wishes to ask questions or talk one to one with anyone. More information to follow.
SOSA
We had another fun packed special Olympics session last week working on chipping. We had two targets with a small circle of cones scoring higher points and another circle of cones scoring lower points. I thoroughly enjoy these sessions and here they all having some great fun.
