Club Update
Well what a busy week we have had a Harpenden Common. The 9th tee is nearly completed now, so the next job is adding the bunkers on the 13th and 14th holes. With these great improvements to the club, it just confirms to everyone the club is moving forward in the right direction.
We had the whole of the car park tarmacked and new spaces marked out within a week. I personally think it looks fantastic and we have created approximately 30-40 more spaces.
This certainly had an instant effect last Saturday, where we had The Millennium Trophy, which was a shot gun start with just under 100 golfers, but we still had plenty of spaces in the car park!
New Member Of Staff
Ryan Hodges, who has been a member at Harpenden Common since he was a junior and has progressed to play off a handicap of +1, is our newest member of the green staff.
It's really nice to see a member becoming part of the team at HCGC.
Raja
Last Sunday we had the fun Raja Trophy. This is an adult and junior pairs competition and it was great to see some of the new juniors who have graduated from our junior academy playing in this event. Remarkably, Josh Emerton is classed as an adult in this competition and picked a great partner in Sam Morley who scored a gross three under par on the back nine, together they scored 44 points, only just beating Ryan and Dean Hodges who scored 43 points. Well done to everyone that participated.
Captain/Pro
We had our first Captain/Pro match last week playing against Louis and Chris Hindle. Unfortunately, myself and Kevin couldn't cope with big hitting Louis, who had some amazing shots especially driving the green on the 14th!
Yes, the 14th, that's 376 Yards! Very impressive anyway, the final score was 2 down so well played Chris and Louis.
Millennium Trophy
The Millennium Trophy was held this weekend with a good number of teams participating and won by the team of Frances Kipping, Nigel Plain, Noel Johnson and Alex Williams.
