Unfortunately this Sunday will be Chris Foster's last at Harpenden Common. Chris has started his PGA program and while living in Bishops Stortford has secured a job at Hanbury Manor Golf Club which will be much closer for him.
Rob and the team would like to take the opportunity to thank Chris for all his hard work and help over the past year. We wish him all the best for his future carer as a PGA Pro.
Matt's Callaway Epic Sub Zero Driver Review
The New Epic driver by Callaway has a lot to live up to purely because of its name and how they have marketed the driver as the 'Epic', something that if they got wrong would stay with them. However I feel they have got this driver spot on. Looking to update my Titleist 915 D2 and just gain some more consistency were my only goals for the fitting.
I found the Epic to have a great sound and nice soft feel off the face. At address, it has a lovely look and shape with a slightly drawn back head that just stays on the right side of being pointy. Hitting the sub-zero which is the variant with lower spin than the regular epic I could lower my ball spin rate and increase the loft from 7.5 degrees to 9 giving my ball flight a better arc and greater carry distance with more roll out.
Callaway have managed to achieve all of this by casting two 3g titanium bars into the body behind the face to connect the crown and sole, Callaway are able to stiffen the structure of the head so that the face has to flex more, which in turn increases ball speed.
Overall both the epic and epic sub zero do exactly what they are marketed to do and as a result I have ordered the sub zero, I would strongly recommend this driver to almost any golfer but also suggest getting fitted.

Texas Scramble
Last Saturday's Texas scramble was cancelled due to the poor weather and snowy ground conditions. The competition will now take place this Saturday.
Darren Hawkins lesson review by Rob Leonard
With this being the perfect time of year to get some lessons in for the season ahead Darren decided to have a lesson. His goal in this lesson was to simply gain some more distance which we managed to achieve by increasing his shoulder turn as you can see in the before and after pictures below . A full shoulder turn is essential to getting the most distance from your golf swing.
Rob's Thoughts on the NEW Pro V1.. Here is a video of Rob talking us through the new design.
He refers to the changes Titleist have made from the 2016 model.
We hope you enjoyed the newsletter and have a great weekend.
