The Olympics have now finished leaving almost everyone with a thirst for some more competitive sports, luckily we are only a matter of months away from The Ryder Cup! Looking back at The Olympics we saw Charley Hull finish T7th. Watching Charley you see that she repeats the same routine before hitting any shot. Having a repeatable pre-shot routine can help lead to great golf. Give it a go and see how you get on.

Josh Emerton Charity Golf Day 

Our custom fit specialist Josh is holding a charity golf day at Harpenden Common on the 26th August in aid of Keech Hospice Care. 

Josh lost his mother 3 years ago and Keech was the place she spent her final days. 

The format of the day is as follows: 

Harpenden Common Golf Club 1pm start 
Teams of four 4BBB. 
Bacon rolls on arrival. 
Cold meat carvery (after golf) 
Prize giving & raffle £200 per team 

The main aim of the day is to have fun and remember Josh's mum. Please contact Josh if you would like to reserve your place. If you are playing already it will be a fantstic day so we are all looking to support a great cause.

Special Olympics St Albans 

As many of you may know I am the coach to the Special Olympics St Albans (SOSA) for Golf. It is always a great session as all of the young adults are extremely keen and enthusiastic. 

The Special Olympics are open to anyone with a learning or physical disability that wants to get into sport. It is based at Westminster lodge in St. Albans and it cover nearly all sports. 

This week we had a Olympic themed session and here is a little clip from the putting competition.

 

Last week we had the Monthly Medal including the Anniversary Trophy. The Anniversary Trophy is a board competition and was won by Phil Wilkins. The Monthly Medal results were as follows:

Division 1

3rd Mark Quamina Nett 68 

Division 2 
1st Jack Howe Nett 66

Just a reminder this Saturday at 7am is the booking time for the Peter Bozier Stableford scheduled to be played on Saturday 3rd September.

 

Well what can I say other than unstoppable. This winning streak of Captain Pro matches continues. This week Captain Don Engstrom and I had a really enjoyable match with two of the nicest guys at the golf club Steve Campbell and Craig Winters. 

Don has band my driver for the front 9 and definitely worked as we took a 5 up lead at the turn Steve and Craig came fighting back to only to lose the match by one.

 Looking forward to our next match this Sunday.

 

Kid's Summer Golf Camps 

George Littlejohn had another fun packed week of kid's golf summer camps, with over 30 different juniors attending. eorge has asked me to put in the newsletter about the start of the new term. Due to the popularity of the junior sessions, if you would like to attend any of the weekend classes could you please reserve you space ASAP to avoid disappointment. 

We will be creating more groups. However, if you would like a specific group could you let George know ASAP. The term is 12 weeks coaching filled with games, etiquette, technical aspects and on course play.
