Greetings golfers,
Trivia Last Week
Guess the golfer...
The correct answers for last week's trivia were.... David Thompson and Liam Cramer.
Unfortunately no one guessed the correct answers. So this week we have made it a bit easier.
Here is the Pro Shop Team when we were kids. So look out for George Littlejohn, Josh Emerton and Rob Leonard. The first 5 people to get the correct answer will receive a FREE coffee.

Introducing the new Junior Passport
This weekend we introduced the new Golf Foundation Junior Passport. The passport is a structured programme for kids of all ages to help improve their golf and have lots of fun.
It has three key stages, START, LEARN, PLAY which takes a complete novice golfer to becoming a full junior member on the main course. Everyone receives their own personal junior passport booklet which is used by the coaches at the end of every lesson to tick off what they have achieved during the session.
It also features an online progress chart which is updated every week so the kids and parents can see their improvement week by week online. We are very excited to have brought this programme in to enhance the Rob Leonard Junior Academy even further to give the best experience for the juniors involved.

Warm up to better golf
This week's try working on your pre-game warm-up. Just think about yours for a second.
- What do you do before you play?
- What do Tour Players do?
- How close are you to matching their pre-game warm-up that they go through every round?
Now I'm not saying you need to do as much as them guys do, but we do need to make sure we are fully prepared for a round of golf. How many times have you just got into the swing of things after three holes? By this time a scorecard can be ruined. A good warm-up gets you firing straight out of the blocks.
When I ask my pupils what they do I get a few different answers back.
"I have a few swings and a few putts" The best I have had is = "I have a coffee and chat to you"
To give you the best possible chance of success you need to improve what you do. My first tip is sit down with a coffee and write down exactly what you would like to do before your round. Taking everything into consideration. Have a look below to see what I do.
- 5 minutes stretching
- 5 minutes half shots with a wedge
- 5 minutes full wedge shots
- 5 minutes full 7-irons
- 5 minutes driver
- 10 minutes chipping
- 10 minutes putting
So that's a 45 minute warm up. Now add 5 minutes getting your card and signing in.
Add five for a toilet stop and maybe another 5 to allow for the unknown. So there's one-hour preparation time.
Have a look at Miguel Angel Jimenez warm up routine some great stretches I will try and get some picture of members doing these at the weekend. Or even better send your pictures in to me.

Mizuno DNA Custom Fitting
Sometimes devices come along and change the way we teach, play, or custom fit.
The latter has just been changed by a quite staggering piece of kit - the 'Mizuno swing DNA + shaft optimiser.'
Ok, it sounds complicated… so what does it do? Well, it's all about giving you an amazing custom fit experience…
Step 1
You have three swings with the 'DNA' club. This club has numerous sensors to tell us exactly which shafts will best suit your game. It's picking from 65 of the best makes of shaft on the market… 65 is a huge amount, meaning it's accuracy in finding something to match your swing is astonishing. When I tell you Mizuno have struck a deal so that all these shafts are available at no upcharge (even graphite), it should excite you even more!
Step 2
After plugging in your scoring details, handicap, average score etc, we now get another list. This time it's of the recommended heads for you to play.
Step 3
We check the lie you require, take some measurements, and discuss which grip type and size would suit you best. We use the SkyTrak to check distances, spin rates, height of shot etc.
Step 4
The App then gives us a full run down of what lofts it would recommend for each club. We discuss this and make changes as we see fit. The SkyTrak will give us exact height-of-shot figures to aid this process.
Step 5
See above for what the final suggestion looks like:
The truly remarkable thing about this device is the way it finds the correct shaft for your game in under a minute. I can't explain how much you should take advantage of us having this here! The swing optimiser, combined with the SkyTrak and our expertise really means we will be giving some of the best custom fitting sessions available. As a final bonus - When coming for a fitting, we use all of this technology for only £25.
To book a fitting, contact me here and be one of the first players to use the SkyTrak/DNA Optimiser/HCGC team combo. Simply the Best Combination!!
Remember we custom fit: Mizuno, Callaway, PING, Titleist, Odyssey and Lynx.
Why go anywhere else?
You may have questioned why have I put a putter brand in for custom fitting as well... We can also fit for putters using you eye line and putter path we can fit you to the optimum putter as well. Full range of the new Odyssey, PING and Lynx putters available.
NEW in Stock - Callaway RX putter range
Soft White Hot feel with better roll
Odyssey has the most putter wins on Tour, it's the #1 Putter in Golf, and White Hot is the most iconic insert of all-time.
With White Hot RX, we've reached the next evolution in White Hot feel and combined it with better roll to get the ball in to a pure roll faster to help control your speed. Yes, you read that right - White Hot is now even better.
This is what Odyssey had to say:
White Hot Feel Is Even Better
We've taken the legendary White Hot insert that's set the standard in feel for over 15 years and pushed it to the next level. And we've combined it with a dual layer injected molded insert that has a softer core so you get a putter that's the ultimate in speed and feel.
Better Roll From Our New Oval Pattern
The oval design that created quicker, better roll in our Metal-X and Odyssey Works models is in White Hot RX. When you combine the speed and roll of this elastomer insert with next generation White Hot feel, well, you're onto something really big. And we've added a textured clear coat to the striking surface that works with the oval to increase friction and help get the ball rolling faster.
Would you like to try this out to save you shots?

George - Saving Lives
This week George(Pro), Terry (Manager), Beth (office), Ian (Bar) Sean (Greenkeepers) and Tina (Kitching) all participated in the first aid course at the club. Hopefully we will never have to use any of these skills however it is great to know there are so many of us that are qualified.
Making us the all-round best club!
